A Beautiful Sparking Rosé from a Vineyard in Kent. I could rave all day about the Simpsons wines having loved all the ones I have tried previously and their famous Roman Road Chardonnay having won “best in show” at the Decanter World Wine awards. So I was very excited when I heard about the release of their new Canterbury Sparkling Rosé perfectly timed for the festive season. I was kindly sent this bottle from them and it was an absolute delight.
Classically Rosé is always associated with Summer but I think this one works especially well for winter, it has a richness and depth to it that I haven’t seen in many other English Sparkling Rosés.
Aged on lees for 15 months and then another 3 months on cork
Aromas of Raspberries, Rhubarb and cream on the nose with wonderful flavours of strawberry, rose petal and Black Forest gateaux (cherry and dark chocolate – one of my favourite combinations) with a wonderful creamy texture.
Very much enjoyed over the festive period!
