🌸I recently attended a Summer evening Rosé tasting hosted by Sophia of Skin and Pulp and The Belleville Collective at the blooming marvellous Saint Aymes café in London.
🌸Beautiful setting, company and wines focusing on the regions of Luberon & Costières de Nîmes. These are both in the Southern Rhône area and definitely deserve some limelight for producing delicious and varied styles of rosé which are very good value for money.
🌸A little summary for those interested:
🌸The grapes: mostly blends of Syrah, Grenache, Mouvedre & Carignan
🌸The Regions: Luberon AOC is just above Provence where it is gloriously warm and sunny with cooling influences from surrounding mountains in the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon.
🌸Costières de Nîmes AOC- a Region is which is also warm but closer to the coast and benefits from sea breezes and winds. This area has a big focus on environmental and landscape protection with 25% of the now being grown organically and increasing.
🌸We tasted three wines from each appellation and it was great a compare a range of styles from pale, blush and mouthwateringly crisp to more fuller bodied and complex wines.
🌸If you fancy branching out of your Rosé comfort zone then try some wines from @vinsduluberon and @costieres2nimes you’re in for a treat.
